Epigenetics

Group Leader

Since September 2011, Dr. Julia Schulze-Hentrich (Diplom in Biology and PhD in Genetics) has been leading the research group "Epigenetics of Neurodegenerative Diseases" at the Institute of Medical Genetics and Applied Genomics. Dr. Schulze-Hentrich began her training in biology at the Universities of Göttingen and Jena and went on to spent a research year at the University of Berkeley, USA. After that, she studied epigenetics and chromatin biology at the Centre for Molecular Medicine and Therapeutics in the laboratory of Dr. Michael Kobor, and earned her PhD in the Genetics Graduate Program at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada. Before she came to Tübingen, Dr. Schulze-Hentrich worked as a Postdoctoral
Fellow in Canada as a member of the Human Early Learning Partnership (HELP) (Human Early Learning Partnership) program, and studied DNA methylation profiles in human epigenetics.
